I Want to C.A.R.E
We all struggle with motivation from time to time in our own lives. We recognize that sometimes we are able to push through and make it happen because we have to. Unfortunately, our children struggle with this and they lose interest quickly. I am sure you have heard your child say that the don’t care and are bored. Learning how to effectively motivate your child Consistently with the right Attitude with Realistic Expectations is key to them sustained commitment.
The first step to improving your athletes’ motivation is to know what gets your athletes motivated. You also need to understand what causes athletes to lose motivation and want to quit. I love using assessments to help determine if motivation is an area that we must improve quickly. Over my 20 years of working with elite performers these are some of the common themes that I see in them:
Love to practice and compete
Like to work on weaknesses so they can improve
Get excited about competition
Want to win and hate to lose
Have high expectations for their performance
Are dedicated to their sport
Stay committed even when challenged
Go after their goals with intensity
One thing to recognize is that each of these themes have some good and some challenges in them. I work with athletes on how to manage all of these so they can maximize every aspect of their performance! Can’t wait to work with you so you can obtain the Mindset of a Champion.
